Milton daycare employee charged in child pornography investigation
An employee at a daycare centre in Milton faces two charges connected with child pornography after an joint investigation involving the Children's Aid Society, Peel Police and the Ontario Provincial Police.
The 37-year-old Brampton man has been charged with possessing child pornography and accessing child pornography.
"News of the investigation is deeply troubling to us and members of our greater community. The centre assures everyone, especially parents, that we are cooperating with police to assist them in their investigation," said Rebecca Barrows-Vrankulj, executive director of the Milton Community Resource Centre.
The daycare sent a note to parents of children who attend the centre to say that "the staff person in question has been removed from the premises and will not be returning throughout the duration of the investigation."
The centre said all staff undergo police background checks and screening for prospective employees working with vulnerable groups.
