Shooting at Dundas and Sherbourne leaves 1 dead

One man is dead after a shooting overnight Wednesday near the corner of Dundas Street East and Sherbourne Street.

A man is dead after a shooting early Wednesday near Dundas Street East and Sherbourne. 

The shooting happened just after midnight at 310 Dundas St. E.

Officers responded to calls from citizens about the sound of multiple gunshots. They arrived to find a man suffering from gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The identity of the victim has not been released. 

Duty Inspector Dave Rydzik with the Toronto Police said they've been working with some witnesses in the area.

"As you can see it's a pretty busy intersection ... We are still hoping that we can get further information from other people that were out and about in the area," he said.

The intersection of Dundas and Sherbourne was closed to traffic while police conducted their investigation. It was re-opened just after 5 a.m.
