We The North: Blue Jays edition
Video produced by Humber College graduate inspired by Jays push to the playoffs
Inspired by last year's We The North Toronto Raptors campaign, a Humber College graduate has created a new video that captures the recent buzz around the Toronto Blue Jays as they make a push for the playoffs.
- Drake-shaped Raptors ad portrays team as NBA outliers
- Blue Jays stole headlines landing Troy Tulowitzki, David Price
Scott Ewing posted "WTN - Blue Jays edition" on Vimeo yesterday. He edited it together using the same audio track from the Raptors video that went viral ahead of that team's playoff appearance in the spring of 2014. The video features images and footage of Blue Jays players, their fans and the city.
"If this doesn't get you jacked for the playoff push then you might want to consult a Doctor ... because you are dead," the video description reads.
In recent years, the Blue Jays have tested their fans' patience, forcing them to endure what is now the longest active playoff drought in Major League Baseball, one that stretches back to 1993.
At last week's trade deadline, the Jays made major moves that have catapulted them into playoff contenders. The team acquired starting pitcher David Price, a five-time all star and Cy Young award winner. The Jays also traded for shortstop Troy Tulowitzki, another all-star.
After beating Minnesota last night, the Jays have now won four straight and seven of their last eight games.
The team currently sits four and a half games back of the New York Yankees in the AL East standings.
If the season ended today, the Blue Jays would be sitting in the second wildcard spot.
But with 109 games played, Toronto still has another 53 games to go.
