The hometown hockey team routed the WHL champion Seattle Thunderbirds Sunday night 7-1, and tied a scoring record at the same time.
The Spits started the game with three goals in just 38 seconds. No team has netted that many in such a short span since the New Westminster Bruins did back in 1978.
The win improved Windsor's record at the tournament to 2-0, making them the first team in a decade to get off to such a strong start.
Head coach Rocky Thompson said he was happy how his team played and thanked the crowd at the WFCU Centre for keeping his team excited.
"Our community has supported us all year long," he said. "To have our crowd cheering is awesome and our guys really thrive off that."
The Spitfires have two days off before they'll take on the OHL champion Erie Otters on Wednesday.
Thompson said the victories have helped the team build confidence, but they're staying focused on what it will take to win.
"We've had a mature group this year. They know this is still just beginning for us," he said. "There's a lot of work ahead of us and this was just another step in the right direction."
