Windsor Regional Hospital has changed its visitor policies in two units caring for babies and children due to a rise in respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) cases in the hospital's pediatric unit.

In the hospital's pediatric unit, visiting hours are 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., and one caregiver can stay overnight. Only two visitors are allowed in at any time, including parents, and all visitors must be over the age of 16.

Visitors who are unwell will not be allowed to visit and need to report signs of cough, fever, chills, sore throat to staff.

In the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU), parents will be allowed to visit 24/7, with the exception of shift change between 6:45 a.m. and 7:45 a.m., while any other visitors are allowed from noon to 6 p.m. as long as a parent is present. Only two visitors are allowed at a time, including parents, and all visitors must be 16 or older.

Visitors showing signs of sickness will not be permitted to visit and "strict screening will be in effect to ensure we are protecting the infants in the NICU."
