Part One

Ralph Goodale on CSIS and spying
Now that we know Canadian police monitored journalists, and our spy agency's been duping judges about its own illegal snooping, Public Safety Minister Ralph Goodale reveals what he's going to do about it.

US pollster John Zogby
With Election Day approaching in the United States, pollster John Zogby does the calculations on the candidates' support and chances of winning — and what all the numbers mean for his country.

Haida Gwaii bomb
In fact, it could blow pretty much everything out of the water — if it turns that what a B.C. diver accidentally discovered is an actual Cold War-era bomb.

Part Two

Hugh Segal: basic income
An Ontario pilot project plans to address poverty by simply giving money to the people who need it — and former Senator Hugh Segal explains how he thinks that could pay off.

Black church fire
After setting a Black church on fire in Greenville, Mississippi, someone spray-painted the words "Vote Trump" on the wall — in what the city's mayor says could be an attempt at voter intimidation.

Part Three

NFL ratings
Usually, NFL football games are the highest-rated shows on television. But, this year, ratings are suddenly way down. There are any number of possible reasons why — but Steve Almond, author of "Against Football: One Fan's Reluctant Manifesto, explains that he stopped watching for reasons of conscience.

Fire science case
Sonia Cacy was convicted of murdering her uncle in 1993. But that conviction was secured using bunk fire science — which the Texas Criminal Court of Appeals has finally acknowledged. Now, as her health fails her, Ms. Cacy has been declared innocent.
