Episode Transcript

Part One

Vaccines for kids
Health Canada is expected to approve Pfizer's COVID vaccine for children 5 and up — and a doctor whose young patients are new to Canada says she hopes they won't be forgotten.

Anti-Alberta energy report
Alberta's inquiry into foreign-funded anti-energy campaigns finds that no charities did anything illegal — but that doesn't seem to have changed the rhetoric of the provincial energy minister.

Winning Canadian pianist
A Montreal pianist describes the moment he won the prestigious Frederic Chopin International Piano Competition — and says he's still composing himself.

Part Two

Argentina fossils
A new study finds that a couple of hundred million years ago, dinosaurs lived in age-segregated groups — which that paints a new picture of life in the herd.

Tuskless elephants
A researcher explains why he believes a spike in elephants born without tusks in Mozambique is a rapid evolutionary response to poaching.

Part Three

Encore: Alexandra Morton feature
Fisheries researcher and activist Alexandra Morton is back in court this week, arguing for the closure of a number of salmon farms on B.C.'s west coast. It's part of her decades-long effort to protect wild salmon after witnessing their disturbing decline. That prompted us to dive back into our archives, to revisit Carol's feature conversation with her from earlier this year.
