Our Olympians | What happened when Rose LaBreche took off the jersey and picked up the whistle
She is the only Canadian chosen to referee at the Rio 2016 Summer Olympics.
There's more than one way to the Olympics.
For Markham-born referee Rose LaBreche, that path opened up when she took off her jersey and picked up a ref's whistle.
She will referee for the women's rugby sevens competition in Rio, the first time the sport appears at the Olympics in 92 years. And she hopes that being there will encourage more Canadian women to get into refereeing.
