Acclaimed cellist and pianist duo perform from their new album of carefully recreated classics: "Beethoven, Period".
Cellist Matt Haimovitz and pianist Christopher O'Riley join guest host Allan Hawco in Studio Q to perform Beethoven classics as well as classically arranged covers of Joni Mitchell and Arcade Fire songs.
Their new album Beethoven, Period recreates Beethoven's music using only authentic instruments from the composer's time — think 200-year-old pianos, authentic bows and ox-gut strings. The pair perform live in Montreal this Wednesday.
