Appropriate Behaviour's Desiree Akhavan on gratuitous honesty

Desiree Akhavan's first feature film is unflinching in its self-deprecating humour.
Guest host Candy Palmater chats with filmmaker Desiree Akhavan about her debut film Appropriate Behaviour, a  smart, irreverent comedy about an American-Iranian bisexual woman coping with a bitter breakup and hipster Brooklyn.

Akhavan, who wrote and stars in the movie, reveals how much of herself she put into the film, and why she admires Lena Dunham's work but resents being called the "Iranian Lena Dunham."

"I'd really like to meet the Mexican Lena Dunham, we can all do a Benetton Ad," she laughs.
