Today on The Current:

Workers and experts say paid sick leave is more urgent than ever, as Canada battles a third wave of COVID-19. We hear from Rechev Browne, a Toronto grocery store worker; Kendra Strauss, associate professor and director of the labour studies program at Simon Fraser University; and Dennis Darby, president and CEO of Canadian Manufacturers & Exporters.

Then, we meet Rosemary Green, host of the new CBC podcast Life Jolt. She and producer John Chipman tell us about the new podcast, and Green shares her story of surviving prison and learning to thrive afterward.

And Denmark has ruled that Syrian refugees living there can be sent back to Damascus — arguing the area is now safe. We talk to Hiba al-Khalil, a Syrian refugee living in Denmark; Charlotte Slente, secretary general of the Danish Refugee Council; and Kristina Simonsen, associate professor in political science at Aarhus University in Denmark.
