Why Joanna Lilley is captivated by the poetry in Ordinary Hours by Karen Enns
The Whitehorse poet and author of Endlings talks about the book she loves to re-read.
Joanna Lilley is an award-winning poet living in Whitehorse. Her work has appeared in numerous literary journals, including The Malahat Review and Grain. Endlings is her third collection of poetry.
Lilley is a huge fan of writing and reading poetry. She spoke to The Next Chapter about the book she is reading.
"A book I go back to is Ordinary Hours by Karen Enns. It's really what is perfect about poetry. For me, it's beautiful and comforting and poignant and surprising.
"She writes about ordinary life and is very insightful — and with such perception and beauty. I really do believe there's poetry in everything. And she finds that poetry in life, wherever it is."
