This MD spent $1-million of his own money to research gun violence

After the gun lobby got US Congress to cut federal funding for gun research in the 1990s, Dr. Garen Wintemute spent US $1M of his own money to keep his research going. Now the state of California has given him US $5M to set up a centre to research gun violence.
