The Calgary Stampeders have beefed up their offensive line, signing Tony Washington to a contract.

The hulking six-foot-seven, 310-pound lineman played two seasons at Abilene Christian and was twice named to the All-Lone Star South team.

Washington earned the conference's offensive lineman of the year award in both 2008 and 2009 and was named to the Associated Press Little All-American team in 2009.

The Stampeders are looking to shore up their offensive line after the retirement of Rob Lazeo and departure of all-star Ben Archibald, who signed with the B.C. Lions in the off-season.

Before attending Abilene Christian, the New Orleans native was a conference all-star at Trinity Valley Community College.
