Sergei Kostitsyn apathetic about prospect of lost NHL season: report

According to a report in the Russian newspaper Sport-Express, Nashville left wing Sergei Kostitsyn wouldn't mind if the entire 2012-13 NHL season was cancelled.

Nashville Predators forward Sergei Kostitsyn wants an answer fast in the NHL lockout.

According to a report in the Russian newspaper Sport-Express, the left wing wouldn't mind if the entire 2012-13 NHL season was cancelled.

"Players want a definite answer. If the NHL season is lost — let it be that way," according to the report. "I would then play in Russia for the whole season."

Kostitsyn, 25, re-signed with Nashville on a two-year deal worth $6 million US in the summer, but headed over the KHL to play with Avangard Omsk after the lockout.

The NHL has postponed all October games, and both the league and the players' association still cling to hopes a regular 82-game slate can occur if a deal is struck soon.

Kostitsyn also reportedly slammed Columbus, a division rival of the Predators, as the "gloomiest city" in the league.

Kostitsyn has played with his elder brother Andrei in both Montreal and Nashville.

Andrei Kostitsyn was not retained by the Predators after coming over late in the 2011-12 season and earning a playoff suspension for missing curfew.
