The Olympic men's doubles semifinal between Canada's Daniel Nestor and Vasek Pospisil and Spain's Rafael Nadal and Marc Lopez has been postponed due to inclement weather.

Nestor, from Toronto, and Pospisil, from Vancouver, were originally scheduled to play the Spanish duo Wednesday.

It was one of 20 matches moved to Thursday as a result of light, and steady rain that fell most of the afternoon.

The weather was expected to improve in the evening.

Organizers left six matches on the day's schedule at the Olympic Tennis Centre, which is an outdoor hardcourt facility.

Nadal was originally scheduled to play three matches on the day. His third-round singles match against Gilles Simon of France was also postponed, along with his first-round mixed doubles match with Garbine Muguruza.

Nestor — who won Olympic doubles gold in 2000 with Sebastian Lareau — is seeded seventh in men's doubles with Pospisil. Nadal and Lopez are seeded sixth.

Unseeded duo Jack Sock and Steve Johnson of the United States were scheduled to play No. 5 Florin Mergea and Horia Tecau of Romania in the other men's doubles semifinal. That match was also postponed.

The official schedule for Thursday's play was expected to be released Wednesday evening.

The weather forecast calls for mostly sunny skies through the rest of the week.
