Canadians in action include Shawn Barber (pole vault), Christabel Nettey (long jump) and Kimberly Hyacinthe (200 metres).

Barber, 22, will try to defeat French rival Renaud Lavillenie for the first time in five attempts this season. Barber finished second to Lavillenie last week, clearing 5.73 but missing all three attempts at 5.80. That was the winning height for Lavillenie, the world-record holder who has won 11 of 13 head-to-head matches against Barber.

Nettey, 25, was second last week in Oslo with a leap of 6.68 metres, matching her effort at the Prefontaine Classic in Eugene, Oregon last month.

In Oslo, Hyacinthe didn't pose a threat to Dafne Schippers of the Netherlands, who cruised to victory in a world-leading 21.93 seconds. Hyacinthe, who hails from Montreal, was fifth in 23.13, not far off her season best of 23.02.

CBC Sports' coverage of the Diamond League continues with the meet in Monaco on July 15.
