Canada's Mark Oldershaw celebrates Olympic selection with World Cup canoe sprint gold

Just days after he was chosen to represent Canada at the Rio Olympics, canoeist Mark Oldershaw paddled his way to a World Cup sprint gold medal in Portugal.
The Burlington, Ont. native took the win in the men's C1 500 metre final with a time of one minute, 53.484 seconds.
Oldershaw wasn't the only Canadian to land on the podium in Montemor-o-Velho – kayakers Adam van Koeverden, of Oakville, Ont., and Mark de Jonge, of Halifax, both won silver in their respective events. Paul Bryant of Richmond Hill, Ont., won silver in the men's C1 5,000.
The men's K4 200 crew of de Jonge, Alex Scott (Bedford, N.S.), Ryan Cochrane (Windsor, Ont.) and Étienne Morneau (Québec City) won a silver medal, finishing one place ahead of their spot last week.
