Magnus Moan leads Norwegian sweep at Nordic combined World Cup

Fastest skier on cross-country track edges out competition

Magnus Moan edged Magnus Krog by the length of a ski tip to lead a Norwegian sweep of the podium at a Nordic combined World Cup on Saturday.

Having started 20th following the ski jumping, Moan was the fastest skier on the 10-kilometre cross-country track and beat Krog after 22 minutes, 17.3 seconds for his 25th individual World Cup victory.

A third Norwegian, Jarl Magnus Riiber, came 1.0 second behind in third after beating Tino Edelmann of Germany in another photo-finish.

Riiber had jumped 95.5 metres to win the ski jumping portion and carried a 37-second lead into the cross-country skiing.

In the overall standings, Krog overtook leader Fabian Riessle of Germany, who fell in the final lap and finished ninth.

Another Nordic combined event is scheduled for Sunday.
